Before the app, there was the sky — and it still files its forecast a day early. Learn the four-chapter cloud story that announces rain tomorrow, the noon rule that tells you when to head indoors, why a ring around the moon is worth the attention your grandmother gave it, and which of the old sailor's rhymes are real physics. Then test yourself against tomorrow's sky. For warnings, the sky is not enough — when your national weather service issues one, believe it. In the US that is the NWS, and a NOAA Weather Radio wakes itself to tell you; elsewhere, find the equivalent before you need it.
