Competence isn’t a single trade. It’s a map. The Well of Nine is built around nine domains of human capability — the things a person should be able to reach for when it matters. We teach them one at a time, and then we show how they connect. That last part is the whole point.
The Well of Nine is an independent study of nine domains of practical human competence — emergency medical care, making and repair, communications, land and food, money and probability, law and self-defense, writing and rhetoric, violence prevention, and self-command — taught with cited sources and connected where it counts. A video series is in production; this site is the map of what it will hold.
The flagship. One topic per episode, taught properly, with the sourcing held to a real standard — every claim cited in the description, chapters marked, nothing padded. Fifteen to thirty minutes of the thing actually explained, not a highlight reel of it. Built to be worth rewatching the day you actually need it.
Short-form. One practical, immediately usable competence per video — the bucket you can lower quickly. No channel lore, no throat-clearing: the skill, the common mistake, the rep to go do today. Watch one, then do the thing once. That’s the assignment.

Beneath the world-tree, the old story goes, lies a well of wisdom — Mimir’s Well, at the root of Yggdrasil, which spans the nine realms. Odin gave an eye to drink from it. The lesson is older than the myth: deep knowledge always costs something real.
You don’t own the well. You draw from it. The brand is the well; the audience is everyone willing to lower the bucket. That’s the whole arrangement — no shortcuts sold here, no lane to pick. Just nine domains, and the patience to go deep in each.

The name comes from Mímisbrunnr, the well of wisdom in Norse myth, where a drink cost the drinker something real.
The Body (emergency medical care), the Craft (making and repair), the Signal (communications), the Land (food, water, and living systems), the Ledger (money and probability), the Law (self-defense law and forensics), the Word (writing and rhetoric), the Wolf (violence and its prevention), and the Mirror (self-command). Each has its own study page on this site.
The well is kept anonymously, on purpose. What matters here is whether the claims hold — every video cites its sources in the description, and the reading list shows the books the teaching stands on. Judge the water, not the hand that draws it.

Nine is not a marketing number. It is the smallest honest map of what a capable person reaches for: keeping a body alive, making and mending, speaking across distance, working with land, counting well, standing rightly before the law, writing clearly, understanding violence, and governing oneself. Fewer would merge things that are truly different crafts; more would split hairs.
